Dave Hutchinson, is an award winning science fiction author celebrated for intricate narratives and immersive storytelling. After university he pursued a career in journalism spanning almot 25 years. His literary journey began early; by the age of 21, he had published four collections of stories under the name David Hutchinson: “Thumbprints” (1978), “Fools’ Gold” (1979), “Torn Air” (1980), and “The Paradise Equation” (1981). His first novel, “The Villages” (2001), blends elements of fantasy, science fiction, and the supernatural. In 2004, he released “As the Crow Flies,” a collection that combines horror, science fiction, and fantasy. His novella “The Push” (2009) explores the inception of faster-than-light travel and its consequences, earning a nomination for the 2010 British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) Short Fiction Award.
Dave Hutchinson’s most acclaimed work is the “Fractured Europe” series, which delves into a fragmented future Europe through espionage and political intrigue. The series includes “Europe in Autumn” (2014), “Europe at Midnight” (2015), “Europe in Winter” (2016), and “Europe at Dawn” (2018). “Europe in Autumn” was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award in 2015. “Europe at Midnight” received nominations for the BSFA Award for Best Novel, the Kitschies, the Arthur C. Clarke Award, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award in 2016. The third installment, “Europe in Winter,” won the BSFA Award for Best Novel in 2017. The final book, “Europe at Dawn,” was nominated for the BSFA Award for Best Novel and the Dragon Award for Best Science Fiction Novel in 2019.
